Position: Training Specialist, WV Wood Technology Center Randolph County Development Authority

Salary:  Based on experience and qualifications.

 

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in vocational education, wood products, manufacturing, business or related fields
  2. Work experience in the wood products industry or a related manufacturing industry preferred
  3. Ability to teach, organize, and perform woodworking training programs
  4. Proven background and experience in wood products manufacturing
  5. Ability to communicate with manager and workers within the regional woodworking industry
  6. Proven abilities to work with education, business, and industry leaders
  7. Proficient in various computer programs including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office and Corel Draw
  8. Background in workplace safety
  9. Ability to travel regionally

POSITION: Training Specialist

DESCRIPTION: Develop, promote, teach, coordinate, and expand industry leading courses in the areas of hardwood manufacturing, safety, extractive, and other industries. Manage and expand the WV Wood Technology Center and Central West Virginia Woodworkers Cooperative.

LOCATION: West Virginia Wood Technology Center, Elkins-Randolph County

REPORTS TO:  WV Wood Technology Center Executive Director

QUALIFICATIONS – REQUIRED:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in vocational education, wood products, manufacturing, business or related fields
  2. Work experience in the wood products industry or a related manufacturing industry preferred
  3. Ability to teach, organize, and perform woodworking training programs
  4. Proven background and experience in wood products manufacturing
  5. Ability to communicate with manager and workers within the regional woodworking industry
  6. Proven abilities to work with education, business, and industry leaders
  7. Proficient in various computer programs including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office and CorelDraw
  8. Background in workplace safety
  9. Ability to travel regionally

QUALIFICATIONS – PREFERRED:

  1. Experience working in oil & gas industry
  2. Bachelor’s degree in safety or related field
  3. Certification in various safety programs including, but not limited to, HAZWOPER, PEC/Safeland, OSHA, First Aid/CPR/AED
  4. Experience programing/operating a CNC, laser engraver, moulder, or similar machines
  5. Proficiency in the following software programs: Photoshop, V-Carve, and Photo Grave

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Teach courses on and off-site
  2. Coordinate with regional vocational-technical centers to recruit students
  3. Develop curriculum to meet industry needs
  4. Schedule course offerings
  5. Manage wood shop activities
  6. Manage woodworkers cooperative
  7. Implement woodwork manufacturing technology curriculum
  8. Implement various industry safety curriculum
  9. Consults with businesses on problem identification and needs assessments
  10. Maintain positive relationship with industry by open communication
  11. Performs other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director/Designee

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Recommended by the MSESC Executive Director Confirmed by the MSESC Governing Council

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This position is a will and pleasure employee of the Mountain State ESC. Continuation of the position is dependent upon funding, enrollment and program performance.
