Position: Technical Assistance-Special Education Coach-Calhoun County Full-time, 3 days on site, 2 days monitoring
Salary: Based on experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities
- Supports, mentors, and models best practice instructional strategies and techniques. (i.e. new teacher trainings, professional development, on-site, face-to-face)
- Exhibits a strong commitment to improving academic and social achievement for
students with disabilities. Review and analysis of data.
3.Attends special education-related meetings, as requested.
4.Effectively communicates special education procedures and best practices to site administration and staff.
5.Facilitates staff development activities related to students with disabilities for administration, licensed, and support staff. (i.e., CPI, PK transportation, etc.)
6.Informs building level administration and COO of Student Services of special education concerns/issues that may be supervisory in nature.
7. Assists administration, licensed, and support staff professional with the effective implementation of federal, state, and local mandates.
8.Ensures that students with disabilities are receiving a free and appropriate education in the least restrictive environment
9.Provides staff with information on scientifically based instruction, positive behavioral supports (including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), etc.), and other effective classroom management techniques.
10.Assists licensed staff in providing technical information, preparing IEPs, and/or referrals for additional/alternative academic and/or positive behavioral supports, FBA’s and BIP’s.
11.Monitors, on a regularly scheduled basis, confidential folders, and IEPs to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance. Provide written feedback. Assist with monitoring.
12.Maintains confidentiality and organization of records through observable procedures consistent with County directives
13.Collaborates with licensed staff and administration when designing class schedules as it relates to students with disabilities.
14.Assists IEP teams in the development and implementation of transition plans.
15.Effectively uses and train building staff to use the electronic IEP system.
16.Collaborates effectively and professionally with administration, staff, parents/guardians, and the community.
17.Integrates the use of technology into the instructional program in accordance with the standards
18.Collaborate with SAT Coordinator and School Psychologist
19.Conduct parent workshop/training about WVTSS, SAT and Special Education process and procedures.
20.Provide support in transition planning, strengthening inter-agency connections, and monitor graduation requirements for SWD.
21. Participate in monitoring preparation.
22.Participates in other job-related duties and activities related to the position, as assigned.
Qualifications:
1. Valid professional teaching certificate, Special Education required
3. Experience in working with technology and using educational software is preferred.
4. Effective oral/written communication skills are required.
