Position: Math Interventionist-Mingo County-Part-time-1 per school, Burch PK-8, Dingess Elementary, Gilbert PK-8, Kermit PK-8, Lenore PK-8, Matewan PK-8, Williamson PK-8, Mingo Central HS, Tug Valley HS

Salary:  $25 per hour/15 hours per week for the remainder of the 2022/2023 school year.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree
  2. Use appropriate language
  3. Be compassionate and exhibit positive behavior
  4. Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  5. Exhibit excellent work habits
  6. Comply with all state, district, school, and classroom policies and procedures.
  7. Demonstrate knowledge in the usage of technology,

Responsibilities:

  1. Providing one-on-one or small group tutoring to students who are having trouble with specific topics or skills in math
  2. Organizing lessons and activities appropriate for each student’s skill level, including creating appropriate materials
  3. Observing students in class to determine any areas of difficulty that may need extra attention or intervention
  4. Working with teachers to design new interventions or improve existing ones based on student progress or lack thereof
  5. Conducting diagnostic assessments to determine or clarify areas of weakness and strengths in math skills
  6. Helping students understand concepts through hands-on activities and games
