POSITION:
Kanawha County Adult Education Coordinator/Teacher

REPORTS TO:
MSESC Executive Director

LOCATION:
Kanawha County / South West Region

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop the county plan to be submitted to the West Virginia Department of Education on an annual basis.
2. Develop and manage the county-wide Adult Education and SPOKES budgets.
3. Oversee financial reporting, correspondence, program inventory, and tracking of all expenditures for the Adult Education program and all ongoing projects.
4. Write grants and establish collaborative agreements with other agencies to provide needed services in the community.
5. Recruit applicants for teaching positions; provide pre-service training under the guidelines of the West Virginia Department of Education’s Adult Education program; manage the paperwork necessary for the hiring process; provide training for new employees; track the necessary professional development needs of each employee; evaluate both full time and part time staff.
6. Conduct staff meetings, professional development sessions and specialty focus groups.
7. Make classroom visits for the purpose of evaluating needs; evaluating instruction; monitoring student progress – follow established guidelines for monitoring/evaluating staff, program and student activities.
8. Supervise all AEMIS reporting, setting up classes, teachers and schedules; monitoring the input of Student Profile data and monthly reports.
9. Plan and implement projects and programs that will promote the Adult Education program throughout the county – attend job fairs, etc.
10. Plan, develop, organize and supervise all activities and special projects of the Adult Education program throughout the county to include recognition events and the Kanawha County Adult Education Graduation.
11. Provide leadership for the Kanawha County Literacy Advisory Coalition, supervising the monthly meetings and projects.
12. Coordinate program activities with state and local agencies both private and governmental.
13. Cooperate with and serve on agency committees, literacy committees, school committees, and other related committees providing services and referrals for adult students.
14. Coordinate instructional programs with appropriate technical education and college staff to ensure successful student transition to post-secondary education.
15. Establish and maintain linkages with community agencies for the purpose of obtaining services and referrals and to coordinate these services.
16. Participate in staff meetings.
17. Update appropriate entities on all matters concerning Kanawha County Adult Education.
18. Seek professional development opportunities that both contribute to the Adult Education requirements set forth by the West Virginia Department of Education and allow for professional and personal growth completing required hours of approved annual professional development training.
19. Performs other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director/Designee.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This position is a will and pleasure employee of the Mountain State ESC. Continuation of the position is dependent upon funding, enrollment and program performance.
