Position: Empowerment Academy District Instructional Coach and Innovation Designer

Reports to: MSESC Executive Director

Empowerment Term: Full-time

Salary: Based on qualifications and experience. Position is for the 2021-2022 school year (September 2021- June 2022)

Job Summary: The EAD coach will work cooperatively with EAD Design Team and specified district leaders, school leaders, coaches, and teachers to provide technical assistance targeting instructional shifts and redesigning learning environments to align with EAD Principles and Protocols.

Responsibilities:

  1. Design, plan, facilitate, and evaluate professional development with teachers, students and administrators.
    a. Specific efforts include but are not limited to: EAD project-based learning, prioritizing standards, differentiation, high-effect inquiry techniques, and other evidence-based instructional practices.
    b. All professional development is developed in coordination with district leaders, school leaders, local coaches and teachers.
  2. Prepare and present innovation/network materials to principals, teachers, and other school staff
    a. Reflective of EAD research findings, and can include Empowerment Skills rubrics, Protocol examples, templates, etc.
  3. Analyze district and site teacher effectiveness data to determine strategic recommendations and/or district professional development.
  4. Observe and provide teacher feedback on classroom instruction; communicate with school and district leaders regarding teacher progress towards instructional shifts.
  5. Collect evidence of instructional strategies; use evidence to help teachers, coaches, and administrators adjust instruction.
  6. Contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the EAD Design Team’s service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a team.
  7. Contribute content and input on EAD network marketing and messaging, advocacy efforts with WVDE, and EAD research, including:
    a. Lead the development of a network-wide student showcase of learning to reflect the EAD Design Principles and communicate school district innovation progress
  8. Perform other responsibilities as may, from time to time, be assigned by the supervisor or MSESC Executive Director.
  9. Perform other special projects as requested by the MSESC Executive Director.
  10. Represent the organization and representative partners with dignity, integrity, and a spirit of cooperation in all relationships with staff and the public.
  11. Maintain monthly log of time and effort, and complete documentation required via grant demands and/or MSESC reporting in a timely manner.

 

Qualifications:

Holds or qualifies for a WV Professional Teaching Certificate endorsed for Core Content at the Secondary Level with a minimum of 5 years teaching experience; at least 3 years teaching experience in a project-based learning environment; experience as an instructional coach at middle and/or secondary learning levels preferred.
